Originally from Germany, I have worked and lived in Hong Kong as a researcher for urban farming and urban ecology since 2012. I have traveled to numerous Asian countries on my own and love the feeling of exploring uncharted territory. In cities, I am mostly attracted to urban green spaces, beautiful architecture, places of art and history as well as local eateries. Whenever time permits, I like to venture into areas of lush and pristine wilderness, enjoying natural landscapes and learning about the secrets and beauty of local plants and wildlife.

During my stay in Hong Kong, I’ve explored most famous tourist attractions along with various less traveled spots like roof top farms, nature conservation areas, lonely beaches, open-air parties and much more. Since I am a food-lover and vegan, I can recommend excellent choices for vegan or vegan-friendly restaurants as well as trendy cafés throughout Hong Kong.

If you are interested in viewing this unique city from my perspective, join me on an Outing through Hong Kong tailored to your liking.

Sophia was a wonderful guide on a recent hike across Luntau Island from Discovery Bay to Mui Wo. She was a rich resource of information on the local scenery and Hong Kong more generally.

It was a hot day (30C in mid November), but Sophia was very mindful of our group’s stamina throughout the hike, helping us maintain a good pace (with plenty of time for great photos along the way).

An amazing trip to see the nature of Hong Kong. Showed us farms and did some farm work as well! Got to plant some crops in a yard space at a local community.

She is super friendly, and eager to learn about us. Easy to talk to you, could not have asked for a better guide. Knowledgeable about farming and taught us some stuff we didn’t know about!

The rainy weather made it a bit difficult to walk through the farm, but the rain did make us feel very cool and relaxed. Sophia definitely was positive and upbeat, she made us feel comfortable even though the weather didn’t.

Overall would go again! Planning a trip for the fall/winter!
